"Nothing will change if nothing changes"
That's so true, whoever said that. And my dining room needs a change. Badly. So I decided to make a change. I've tried to make a change for a while actually, looking for that perfect table and chairs to make it all click. But this weekend I finally got very tired of the waiting and decided to boldly paint my oak table black. Correction. I was going to stain it black.
So off I went. Borrowed paint stripper and sander from the neighbors and went to the store to get black stain. I opted for what I thought looked like the a rich black stain that also was a combined finish product. Perfect!
Finally got to put on the first layer of the stain last night and wow, it is really black! It doesn't feel or look like a stain at all, more like a paint. Once it's out of the garage I'll show you. Haven't decided if I'm going to strip it again and try another softer stain..we'll see what it looks like inside.
Looking at these examples of black tables though, it seems there's hope it could work!
