It's been a while since I shared any home porn here on the blog. To be honest, I haven't really thought that anything has stood out to me lately. It's felt pretty much like same same and a lot of grey. And I love the grey, nothing wrong there, it's just been lacking personality in my opinion. And I don't want to put anything on this blog that doesn't catch me, make me stop and wish for a moment that I could step in to that home and just walk around in there by myself and take it all in. This image above finally grabbed me as soon as I saw it. There's the grey and white as we've seen so much of already, but then there's this cabinet and the rug that just makes the entire room glow. By the way, how BIG is that rug? Amazing! But back to that cabinet - I think it's just astonishing how much warmth can come out of one old piece of furniture, especially when placed in modern company.
After an image like that you can't really NOT click in to view the rest of the home, right? This is a really cool floorplan so that lends a lot of character to this space. Just beautiful pictures!
You know what I would think was really fun though? If we could take a peak in to these homes after they're sold and the new owners have moved in. See what life really looks like in these super perfect places. Because right now, when we're looking at it, it's styled to make beautiful pictures and to make the home look great. But does anyone see where the mail would go? All the daycare art? (I guess that's the best word for it even though most of the pieces I get home are clearly not the product of passion but something my boys suffered through on the way to the next recess). Where are the piles of laundry that are waiting to get taken care of? The dishes that are drying? You know what I mean, signs of actual real life happening. I get it, obviously these are very special circumstances and images meant to inspire us. Lifting some of the real world out of those pictures make them much more attractive - I agree. But isn't it also setting unrealistic expectations? Giving us a bar we cannot reach? Food for thought while you browse the rest of these pics..unattainable or not - they certainly provide a respite from the piles and imperfections around me right now.
