Well, that was a wonderful midsummer weekend! With beautiful weather and some good friends visiting we have really been enjoying some lazy time. The kids have been playing so great together and we have been cooking amazing food for meals that lasted for hours..that kind of stuff never happens for real..but this weekend it did! I feel completely destressed...so great!
In other news.. IKEA Sweden has announced some new and interesting products for the kitchen coming in August. (Not sure why IKEA US doesn't announce news as quickly..but hopefully they will be sold in the states too) First, the kitchen cabinets Kalvia designed by fashion designer Martin Bergstrom. At first I thought it was a bit too crazy for a kitchen. And I kind of still think it might be. But the style of these cabinets were born out of the insight that more and more people live in smaller spaces nowadays where the kitchen may be shared with the living room or bedroom. If your kitchen is also your living room, it makes sense that you might want it to look a little less like a kitchen and a little more like art.
The darker colors we're seeing on walls right now will match really great with this countertop - Barkaboda in Walnut. I like the zig zag design..it lends a little liveliness to the simplicity of wood and the seriousness of the darker color. But I have to say..I think the whole raw fish styling thing is a bit much..who ever cooks that anyway?
And then we have this little game changer. Yes, I called it a game changer. It's a super cute little portable induction cook top - Tillreda. Isn't that a great idea? Imagine all the new places you can cook up some mac and cheese or heat up that chili! Anywhere! As long as you have power, of course. And since it's induction it won't get hot so as soon as you're done eating you can just pack it up and take off. Perfect for the office, the patio, camping, as an extra cooktop in you kitchen for holiday dinners or parties...so many uses for this. So cool!
